Our dogs are solid workers, first and foremost. While we expect all dogs from RM to be versatile and able to excel in many disciplines, our primary focus is solid dogs with high drives, unshakable confidence, and unwavering work ethic that will excel primarily in IPO, French Ring, Nose Work, Police Work, and Protection services.

Dogs in our kennel, while not specifically bred for Conformation, are all in standard and should the individual dog show aptitude are able to be shown. Temperament and health are, of course, our number one focus but we also pay close attention to appearance, structure, movement, and prefer darker sables to solid blacks/bi-colours and medium to long coats. It is highly unlikely that you'll see a saddled black/tan or heavy/fluffy coats in our roster - though you may see the occasional silver or white.

Roter Mond does not, under any circumstances, breed for any extreme structure in our dogs! We have no interest in roach back, extreme slanted back, hock walkers, or over/lack of angulation in movement and all of our dogs are of the "Old Style" variety with straight backs and sturdy structures.

 

While we do prefer dogs on the larger end of the standard, bitches generally in the 36-45kg lean and standing at 63-71cm range while dogs range in the 45-63kg lean and stand at 68-32cm, we do not sacrifice health or longevity for size. We want large, hearty, healthy dogs that will be with us for a long time to come - not oversized giants with short lifespans.

 

Our dogs routinely hit the 14 year mark while often edging into and above the 45kg range for both dog and bitch; we expect to continue that trend for many years to come.
